Customer Support

Bristol-Myers Squibb is developing several tools for use by our customers, health care professionals, and others in managing EHS issues. As these tools become available electronically, we will post them here. The files below may be accessed as a "pdf" file that can be viewed with Acrobat Reader.

Some of the pharmaceutical products that we manufacture and market are, by design, toxic to living cells. Other products may pose potential risks to the environment or human health and safety if not properly managed during storage, use, and disposal. In order to meet the needs of our customers, we have developed the following tools to help in this regard:

Greener Hospitals: Improving Environmental Performance
As tangible evidence of our commitment to be a global environmental leader and help health care facilities become more aware of their environmental impacts and responsibilities, Bristol-Myers Squibb supported the development of this manual (edited by the Environment Science Center in Ausburg, Germany). The manual explains and provides suggestions for implementing environmental management systems at hospitals, doctors' offices, clinics, and other health care facilities. The manual includes a description of an environmental management system (including ISO 14001), practical tips for implementing an environmental management system, specific areas for improvement, web addresses providing additional information, and a checklist to help health care facilities identify potential opportunities for improvement. To obtain a printed copy, contact ehs.cas@bms.com.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Locator Page
This is a Web page with links to images of material safety data sheets (MSDSs) for Bristol-Myers Squibb products. The information addresses potential exposures of health care workers and other employees who may be exposed to our products in the work place. The MSDSs are not intended to present information relevant to the use of the products by patients.

Environmental and Safety Advances for Health Care Facilities: A Compendium of Best Practices in Mercury Awareness, Waste Management, and Safety Innovations (344k PDF file)
The Onondaga County Department of Drainage and Sanitation teamed with Bristol-Myers Squibb Company to sponsor "Communities Committed to the Environment: A Conference for the Health Care Industry on Mercury Awareness, Waste Management, and Safety Innovations" in Syracuse, New York, on May 15 - 16, 2001. The compendium summarizes the presentations given during the conference on environmental management in health care, safety and ergonomics, and strategies for managing mercury and silver. To obtain a printed copy, contact ehs.cas@bms.com.

Handling Cytostatic Pharmaceuticals (336k PDF file)
As part of our ongoing efforts to reach out to customers overseas by providing tools to help them address their own health and safety issues, Bristol-Myers Squibb sponsored this manual with the International Society on Oncology Pharmacy Practitioners (ISOPP). Since 2000, we have distributed 40,000 copies to 20 countries in 4 languages. This manual provides pharmacists and staff with information on the safe handling of anticancer drugs. To obtain a printed copy, contact ehs.cas@bms.com.

Innovations in Health Care Environmental Management: A Compendium of Effective Practices for Health Care Facilities (508k PDF file)
The compendium is based on presentations and discussions from “Innovations in Health Care Environmental Health and Safety,” a conference Bristol-Myers Squibb sponsored in association with the Massachusetts Public Health Association in June 1998 at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. The conference provided health care professionals in administration, housekeeping, purchasing, facilities, and EHS with hands-on tools for reducing, recycling, and managing health care waste. To obtain a printed copy, contact ehs.cas@bms.com.
