Facts and Figures 

The Skillman Facility has two office buildings and one Cyclet building
situated on more than 45 acres. The Skillman facility is the worldwide
business headquarters for ConvaTec, which manufactures products in the
following categories:
- Ostomy
- Wound and Skin Care
The Skillman site houses offices, research and development facilities,
and process development labs.
Economic Development
- The Skillman Facility spends more than $450,000 in taxes annually.
Community and Social Progress
- In 2006, ConvaTec hosted a Life Science Career Day, co-sponsored by
the Raritan Valley Community College and the Healthcare Institute of
New Jersey. The program is designed to expose high school sophomores
to career opportunities in life sciences. ConvaTec scientists, engineers
and other professionals told the students about their jobs and their
careers. The students were taken on tours of the R&D labs and operational
facilities.
- In 2006, ConvaTec hosted students from the West Windsor Plainsboro
High School Job Sampling Program. This program helps students with cognitive
disabilities develop career goals through classroom instruction and
practical occupational experiences at a variety of business environments.
Students enroll in the Program after completing high school and eventually
graduate with the skills required for full time employment.
- ConvaTec will host 19 children from the Rock Brook School at an ice
cream social. The event will be to recognize an exhibit of photographs
taken by handicapped children from the Rock Brook School. The Rock Brook
School is participating in the Special Eyes on the Environment (SEE)
Program, which was created by Ross Lewis, a former international photographer
for Fortune 500 corporations. SEE is a dynamic program for children
and adults with disabilities. The Rock Brook School, located in Skillman,
N.J. is a private, non-profit school for communication impaired and
multiple disabled children whose ages range 5 - 12.
- In 2006, ConvaTec participated in the Montgomery Twp. Earth Day Fair
educating neighbor residents about BMS environmental conservation efforts
and provided visitors with energy efficient light bulbs.
- The Skillman facility received Governor's
Award (2005).
- In 2004, Skillman acted as the Corporate Sponsor for the Crawford
House 2004 "One Mile at a Time" Walk . The Crawford House
provides a women's program for early recovery from substance abuse.
- ConvaTec received the 2004 Corporate Safety Excellence Award for achieving
its 2004 safety goals.
Environmental Performance

- All Departments at Skillman participate in the Departmental Self-Inspection
Program proactively identifying any safety observations for timely corrective
action.
- In 2006, the Bldg. 200 roof is being replaced with energy efficient
roofing.
- In 2006, ConvaTec completed additional energy savings and/or greenhouse
gas reduction projects, such as: installing occupancy sensors in "common"
areas & offices, replacement of exterior parking/site lights with
pulse start metal halide bulbs/ballast lights, and energy efficient
replacement windows.
- In 2004, two roof top air handlers in Building 200 were replaced,
eliminating the use of a 175 ton chiller.
- In 2004, a building-wide cooling tower was replaced with a more energy
efficient piece of equipment
- The Skillman facility celebrates Earth Day annually with special events
such as a children's poster contest, household hazardous waste day,
and lunch-n-learn sessions.
- The facility has adopted the Arogos Skipper and Checkered White (butterflies)
as part of the company's Sustainability
2010 goal goal to encourage each facility and business to help protect
endangered species and habitats. A Butterfly Habitat was created by
Skillman employees to help promote and protect various species of endangered
and threatened butterflies, and maintenance efforts continue annually
by employee volunteers.
- In both 2005 & 2006, employee volunteers participated in an Orchard
Rd. clean-up event removing garbage/debris alongside the roadway.
- In 2004, Skillman sponsored & assisted the Montgomery Twp. High
School Robotics Team with design issues, materials, alternatives, and
resource allocation, as well as strategy and engineering advice.
