Facts and Figures 
- The Mayagüez facility was initially built in 1971 with the objective
of manufacturing high quality pharmaceutical products. Our Mission is
to extend and enhance human life by providing high quality health and
personal care products.
- At present, we manufacture solid and injectable products.
- The Mayagüez facility consists of two legal entities in one:
Bristol-Myers Squibb Manufacturing Company (BMSMC) and Bristol-Myers
Squibb Caribbean Company (BMSCC).
- The first one manufactures Cardiovasculars, Antidiabetics, Antibiotics,
Anti-anxiety, Hormone/Anti-cancer steroids, Anti-conceptives, Analgesics,
Anti-asmathics, and others.
- The second entity is dedicated to anti-cancer products.
- The site consists of 70 acres with seven main buildings and 448,300
plus square feet of building area.
Economic Development
- The facility contributes to the local economy through employee wages
and benefits.
Community and Social Progress
- BMSMC / BMSCC promotes environmental education, the conservation of
our natural resources, and endangered species through the sponsorship
of an elementary school and Department of Natural and Environmental
Resources Sea Turtles Programs. Also, the EHS department carries out
several activities such as a Recycle Program, Safety Month, Safety Workshops,
Earth Day celebration, and environmental, health and safety talks in
schools and universities of the area.
- The facility has adopted the Leather Back Sea Turtle and Cobana negra
as part of the company's Sustainability
2010 goal to encourage each facility and business to help protect
endangered species and habitats.
Environmental Performance
- Mayaguez employees have organized the cleanup of a local beach as
part of an island-wide initiative to clean up Puerto Rico's public beaches.
This facility is required to report annually on releases of toxic chemicals
to the air, water, and land under Section 313 of the Superfund Amendments
and Reauthorization Act (SARA). This website contains links
to the U.S. government's toxic release inventory (TRI) database.
