Products

The Esplugues pharmaceutical facility (Barcelona) manufactures and packages products in solid, semisolid, and liquid forms. Pharmaceutical products produced include: cardiovascular, antifungal, and dermatology. Manufactured products are for national and international markets.

Recent improvements

Noise emission: Project of Sound-proofing of the room of process boilers.
To shield to minimize possible visual impact.
Emphasis of the Security in the works at heights. Risk evaluation and installation of new fences and points of anchorage at plant roof.
Effluent segregation improvements.
Reduction of the sonorous level in the packaging lines
Improvement of ergonomics in the packaging lines, decreasing the weight to be manipulated at lines.
Reduction of the environmental and personal exposure to active substances, by modifications of the product transfer process

Environmental performance highlights

The Barcelona pharmaceutical facility achieved ISO 14001 certification in 1999. Certification was a key goal of the environmental policy of the Barcelona site's management and a consolidation of environmental activities performed regularly.
In 2005, The Environmental Management System was re-certificated in according to ISO 14001:2004

Other environmental goals achieved or in progress:

Utilities and natural resources consumption reduction:
- Improving of solid waste segregation sharing with municipality new procedures.
- Reduction of cardboard consumption by reusing container boxes several times.
- Elimination of a cooling tower from the cooling water system, reducing use of water and avoiding use of chemicals.
- Reduction of atmospheric emission by improvements in the process.
